Mozambique Update 2

Mozambique Update 2

Wow!! We are in complete awe of our God already and it’s only been a few weeks! So much has happened and it’s hard to put it all in words, so please forgive us if this sounds scattered. Also, please feel free to ask us questions or just contact us via email at jillianstiner@gmail.com. We love hearing from home, especially since we aren’t able to receive snail mail; email and facebook are our only communication.

First of all, Mitch and I have heard God very clearly about some things coming in our near future and we cannot wait to share the news with you when the time is right. If you could please be praying for favor and open doors/connections we would greatly appreciate it.

Okay so now the fun stuff!!

Classes:

We are attending class through the week, learning from some amazing speakers; Heidi and Rolland Baker, Will Hart, R.T. Kendall, Stacey Campbell, and many others from all over the world. We have learned too much to try to put it into a brief newsletter but if you would like to know more specifics feels free to contact us.

Foot Washing:

Last week we had the honor and privilege of having a foot washing service with the Mozambican Bible School students. We split up into small groups and the internationals washed the Mozambicans feet and the Mozambicans washed the internationals feet. We prayed and prophesied over each other. It was an amazing and emotional experience. It was a wonderful moment of unity in the body of Christ. It doesn’t matter what our race, color, language, denomination is. We are all created in the image of God and we are all the body of Christ. Put your differences aside and unite!

Local Village Outreach:

We have had the opportunity to go out into the local villages with some Mozambican pastors and do some ministry. We were able to pray for a mama and her son. She had terrible nightmares so we prayed peaceful rest for her. The little boy had worms in his toe so we prayed for healing. Another mama asked us for prayer for a husband! Communication is difficult and this is not an outwardly expressive culture, so it is hard to know what God is doing in these moments. We believe Jeaus is doing amazing things!

Village Immersion:

We had the opportunity to spend “a day in the life of a Mozambican” with 2 mamas that live in the village. We walked to their house and sat and played with the children for a bit, learned some language, and laughed at each other a lot! After a while we went to the local market to buy some food to make Matapa and Nshima for lunch. The girls helped the mamas cook and prepare the meal (even though we did things much slower than them). The majority of our time was spent playing with about 25 children. We sang songs in Makua, played soccer, made a hop scotch board in the dirt, and just loved on them any way we could! They carry so much joy and this ended up being one of our favorite days in Mozambique so far.

House Building:

On Fridays a small group of us are building a home for a blind man and his family. So far we have prayed over the land and for the family, dug a foundation, moved truck loads of material including sand, rocks, cinder blocks, and concrete mix. We have started working on the foundation. Next week we should be starting on the construction of the home. It is such an honor to be able to pour out the love of Jesus and bless this family in such a practical way.

Testimonies:

Mitch and I were walking back to base with a few other people and as we were walking, we met 2 Mozambicans that spoke good english. It was a divine encounter because we saw a woman walking infront of the base, crying and holding her left hand. She was bleeding. Thank God we met those boys because they could translate. Her husband was drunk and started beating her. He took a nail and hammer and began nailing her hand and wrist. As she shared this information with us, we prayed healing and peace over her and for her husband to encounter God. I (Jill) wrapped my arms around her and just held her as she cried. My heart was completely broken. We found out she was actually on her way to her mothers house in the village when we stopped her, so we ended up walking her the rest of the way. As soon as we left I just lost it. I cried and cried because my heart was completely broken. I walked with my arm around her and I could feel all of her feelings, then I felt the peace of God come over her and I and she stopped crying. I believe her pain left as well. That woman was me, and by the grace of God I was saved. I could still be that woman… We all could.

Multiple teams have gone out into the bush bush to minister to unreached villages and share the gospel and some AMAZING things have happened. We were NOT on these teams (our group goes out in 2 weeks) but we feel led to share their testimonies. After going into the villages and sharing the gospel there were many deaf ears opened, blind eyes opened, witch doctors accepting Christ, a little boy was raised from the dead after being confirmed dead for 2 hours from Malaria, an entire village of over 1,000 people accepted Jesus and they sent one of their men to come back to iris to attend bible school and eventually pastor their church there, and sooooo much more! God is pouring out His spirit in the nation and we are so honored to be a part of what He is doing here!
